Lady, 101, 35 Beecherstown Road, Biglerville, Pa., died April 25, 1995, at his home. Born Dec 4, 1893, in Arendtsville, Pa. Son of the late Miram C. and Annie (Hartman) Lady. Wife, the late Ethel (Pennypacker) Lady, died Oct. 27, 1974. Survived by sons: Rev. Charles L. Lady, Somerset, and Herbert P. Lady, Biglerville; sister, Mary L. Garretson, Arendtsville; 4 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Life member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arendtsville. Lady was a fruit farmer in the Biglerville Area for over a half century. A graduate of West Chester State Normal School. Memberships and organizations: Adams County Farm bureau, Adams County Fruit Growers Association, Biglerville Senior citizens, Upper Adams Pray Group. Last surviving member of Arendtsville Glee Club. Music director and lead tenor singer for the Biglerville Senior Citizens Quartet. Charter member of Ira E. Lady American Legion Post 262, Biglerville. Former Scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 70 of Arendtsville. Former secretary-treasurer of Greenmount Cemetery Association, Arendtsville. Former secretary of Butler Township School Board. Former president of the Adams County Board of School Directors. Former board member of Adams County Farm Bureau. Veteran of World War I, serving in U.S. Army. Lady had been active in the Trinity Lutheran Church, serving as superintendent of youth and adult departments, teacher of the King's Daughters Class, elder on Church Council, choir director and member delegate to synod and national church conventions. President of Sixth District Sunday School Association in Adams County. Former dean of the County Leadership Training School for church workers, and was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Synod Stewardship Committee. Taught at Boyd's School in Adams County early in his career. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, North High St., Arendtsville, with the Rev. Martin J. Carlson officiating. Burial, Greenmount Cemetery, Arendtsville. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the church until the time of service.
