  EVELYN L. LAFFERTY
  
  Evelyn L. Lafferty, 61, Somerset RD 5, died Jan. 16, 1985, in Somerset
  Community Hospital.  Born July 27, 1923, in Somerset County, a daughter of
  the late John and Martha (Johnson) Bockes.  Preceded in death by husband,
  Joseph.  Survived by daughters: Martha (Janie), wife of Kenneth Yoder Jr.,
  Somerset RD 1; Doris, wife of Richard S. Baker, Somerset RD 5; Judy, wife
  of Philip Wagner, Springfield, Va.; Gail, wife of Robert Mitchell,
  Jennerstown; two sisters:  Mrs. McGriff Weiss, Somerset; and Shirley Dills,
  Glen Falls, Mont.; also 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. 
  Member of First Methodist Church, Somerset.  She was retired from Bender
  Shoe Co. and was a member of the AARP.  Friends will be received after 7
  p.m. Thursday (today) at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home and from 2-4
  and 7-9 p.m. Friday.  Funeral service Saturday at 1 p.m. in the First
  United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elias A. Kessler officiating. 
  Interment, St. John's Cemetery.  Body will lie in state at the church from
  noon until time of service.
