Born Feb. 27, 1922, in Somerset County, a son of Ira Ernest and Grace Elizabeth (Buratty) Lafferty. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Gertrude Leora Walker, who died Nov. 21, 1991; brother, Harold Lafferty; sister, Lois Gastiger and great-granddaughter, Julia Young. Survived by daughter, Mrs. Paul R. (Carol) Fisher, New Brighton; grandchildren, Mrs. Donald (Gretchen) Young, Purcellville, Va.; and Sean Fisher and wife, Teresa, Bremerton, Wash. A 1940 graduate of Somerset High School. U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Worked as a truck driver for Pennsylvania Turnpike, retiring in 1982. Also a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Friends received 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the time of service Tuesday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. The Rev. Linda J. McElroy officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park.
