He was born July 24, 1917, in Somerset Township, son of the late Franklin and Gertrude (Burkhart) Lafferty. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers. Survived by his wife, Evelyn (Bockes); and these children: Martha Jane, wife of Kenneth Yoder, Somerset RD 1; Doris, wife of Richard S. Baker, Somerset RD 5; Judy, wife of Phillip Wagner, Harrisburg; and Gail, wife of Robert Mitchell, Jennerstown; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; and two sisters: Ruth Gashaw, Mt. Union; and Hazel Smith, Berlin. He was a life-long member of First United Methodist Church in Somerset. He was a retired self-employed trucker, and retired school bus driver. Friends were received at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John C. Cox officiating.
