Died Saturday evening at her home in Johnstown after a few week's illness, aged 70 years. Deceased was a daughter of John and Sarah Kuntz Penrod and was born near Stoyestown on Oct. 15, 1846. She was one of a family of 14 children, two of whom Jeremiah and Martin Penrod served in the Civil War. Miss Penrod came to Johnstown many years ago and was married there on November 3, 1874 to William P. Laird. Ten children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Laird, all of whom are dead except Maud, wife of J. F. Taylor, of Rochester; Misses Edith and Florence Laird at home, and Clarence Laird of Wyoming. Mr. Laird also survives his wife, with six grandchildren, a brother, John Penrod, of Johnstown and one sister, Mrs. Mary Penrod Wingard of Johnstown. The deceased had united with the Lutheran Church in Somerset Community many years ago. Meyersdale Commercial, Jan. 20, 1916
