Born April 24, 1919 in Altoona. Son of Frank and Josephine (Sclaroa) Lamonica. Preceded in death by parents, wife, the former Rose Marie Calderone who died Nov. 18, 1992; daughter Paulette Schivley who died May 2, 1970; sister Esther Donia and brothers, Sebastian "Bussey" and Vincent Lamonica. Survived by children: Francis Lamonica, married to the former Sharon O'Brien of Rockwell, N.C.; Mrs. Mark (Josephine "Joey") Martz of Somerset; Jennifer Lamonica of Huntersville, N.C.; Mrs. Leon (Mary Kay) Yates of Warrenton, Va. Nine grandchildren: Michele Willingham, Gina English, Diana Lamonica, Tony Lamonica, Lindsey Straka, Sean Youngblood, Mario Youngblood, Erika Yates, and Jordan Yates, and seven great-grandchildren, Brandon English, Johnny and Samantha Willingham, Dieon and Devin Roy, Jaxon Youngblood and Brody Hillegas, and sister-in-law Ann Lamonica of Boswell. Member of St. Peter's Catholic Church. U.S. Army veteran of World War II where he served as corporal. Along with his wife, they co-owned and operated Lamonica's Restaurant in Gray for 25 years from 1962 to 1987. Member of Boswell Lodge 1780 Sons of Italy, American Legion Post 181, Somerset County Oldtimers Baseball Association. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Funeral mass will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Somerset, with the Monsignor Samuel J. Tomaselli, celebrant, officiating. Committal, Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Vigil for the deceased will be held at 8:45 p.m. Thursday. Graveside military rite will be accorded by the Somerset County Honor Guard. Contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.
