Mrs. Lancaster was stricken ill on Tuesday and died Friday morning between 6 and 7 o'clock, from a complication of diseases. Her illness came as a shock to everyone, as she was up and about doing her house work and gave her grandson, "Dickie" Miller, his lunch and sent him back to school on the day she collapsed. Dickie found her lying on the kitchen floor when he returned home after 4 o'clock. The fire was out and from her appearance and the doctor's verdict, she had been lying on the floor for several hours. She rallied for a short while on Wednesday afternoon, but soon lapsed into a coma state from which she slept peacefully away. Mrs. Lancaster, had she lived until June 12, would have been 57 years old. She is survived by her father, Thomas Brown, of Confluence; three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Michaels of Somerset; Mrs. Fanny Treutle of Connellsville, and Mrs. Kate Bedard of Los Angeles; and one brother, Benjamin Brown, of Canton, Ohio; her husband, Solomon Lancaster, and the following children: Mrs. Freda Rockwell and Mrs. Onalee Pendergast of Republic; Mrs. Fanny Newcomer of Uniontown and Robert Lancaster, living here. Two children preceded her to the grave, Marybelle and Earl. Mrs. Lancaster was liked by everyone and will be greatly missed. Services were conducted by Rev. L. G. Richie. Interment in Addison Cemetery in charge of Charles Humbert, Confluence mortician. Meyersdale Republican, January 25, 1940
