Landefeld, 102, Garrett RD 1, died July 14, 1998, at home. Born Aug. 27, 1895, in Brothersvalley Township, daughter of James Madison and Ada Elizabeth (Coleman) Shober. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Walter L.; sisters: Lucy and Stella Shober, Melda Ringler, Iva Jeffrey, Etta Kendall, Helen Ward and Ada Marie Caler; brothers: Clayton, Gordon, Miles, Willis, Galen, Jack and Earl Shober. Also, five stepsisters and four stepbrothers. Survived by brother, Drummond Shober of Vineland, N.J.; also numerous nieces and nephews. She was a graduate of Garrett High School and California Normal School. She taught at a number of one-room schools in Somerset County and also in West Newton and Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Beachdale Church of the Brethren, charter member of the Farm Women. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Rev. Larry Black officiating.
