Landis, 64, West Garrett Street, Somerset, died Nov. 30, 1985, in Somerset Community Hospital. Born Sept. 6, 1921, in Meyersdale, son of Samuel and Pauline Landis. Preceded in death by father. Survived by mother, Akron, Ohio; wife of 42 years, former Berna Deane Nicholson; and two children: Mrs. Jeffrey (Ella) Lynch, Greensburg; and Charles C., Longview, Texas; also three grandchildren: Michael, Jessica and Patrick Lynch; also close friend, Raymond Spencer, Longview, Texas; sister, Mrs. Charles (Martha) Speelman, Akron, Ohio; and George, Chicago, Ill. Member of First United Methodist Church, Somerset. Employed by Picadio Beer Distributing, Somerset. Life member of: Somerset Volunteer Fire Department; Post 554 VFW, Somerset; and Disabled American War Veterans, Meyersdale. Member of FOE Post 180, Military Order of Cooties and Post 181 American Legion, Somerset. U.S. Army veteran Company C, 110th Infantry, World War II, where he received Purple Heart for wounds received in action. Friends will be received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Wilbur D.
