Landis, 96, of Berlin, died Sept. 13, 2002 at Meadow View Nursing Center, Berlin. Born Aug. 25, 1906 in Berlin, the daughter of Samuel and Annie (Baker) Knepper. Preceded in death by her parents, husband J. Dalphon Landis and two grandsons, Thomas Allen Saylor and James Robert Saylor. Survived by son, Robert W., married to the former Dorothy Johnson, Berlin; daughters, Doris, married to Joseph Saylor, Berlin, Elaine, married to Gerald Lowe, Birmingham, Ala., and Suzanne, married to Doran Walker, Berlin; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. Graduate of the former California Normal School, and was a teacher at the former Macdonaldton, Sandy Hollow and Plank Road schools. She also taught pre-school at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Berlin, and was an aide in Berlin kindergarten classes. Member and Sunday School teacher at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, member and past president of E.L.C.W. Charter member of the Pius Spring Women's Club. A 60-year member and past officer of the 2nd Society of Farm Women, John and Louise Ream's needle point group and the Historical Society, all of Berlin. Member of the Pennsylvania State Retired Teachers Assoc. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, and also from 10:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin. Rev. Glenn P. Foster and Rev. Ralph G. Landis officiating. Interment, Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
