Landis, 61, of 317 Cecelia Street, died March 26, 1984, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Maryland, where he had been a patient the past three weeks. Born in Garrett, he was a son of Mrs. Zella (Patterson) Landis, Hazen Road, and the late Emmons W. Landis. He was retired from the Chessie System after 32 years of service. A charter member of Cresaptown Aerie 2883, Fraternal Order of Eagles, he was also a member of Fort Cumberland Lodge 211, Cumberland Consistory of the Scottish Rite, Ali Ghan Shrine Temple, and the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen. He was an Army veteran of World War II. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his widow, Mrs. Mary Jo (Lowery) Landis; two daughters, Mrs. Joyce Maiers and Mrs. Linda Wilson, both of Cumberland, Md.; one brother, Glenn E. Landis, Cumberland, Md.; five grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. Friends were received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary where services were conducted by the Rev. Thomas Lantz and the Rev. Edward Hinkle. Interment was in Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Dale Maiers, Greg Maiers, Eric Newcomer, Mike Newcomer, Donnie Witt and Ronnie Witt. The Republic, March 29, 1984 [L0131]
