Landis, 27, of Hyndman RD 1, who was injured Oct. 8 when he fell from a truck three miles north of Ellerslie, Md., died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 1986, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He was reportedly moving household furniture to his family's new home when the accident occurred. Born in Wheeling, W.Va., July 15, 1959, Mr. Landis was the son of C. Ray Landis, Hyndman RD 1, and the late Martha (Smith) Landis Holbrook. He was employed by the Schmidt Baking Company, Cumberland, Md., and served with Company B, 121st Engineering Battalion of the Maryland National Guard in Cumberland. He was a member of the Bethel Assembly of God Church, RD 1. Besides his father and stepmother, Mrs. Donna (Custer) Landis, survivors include his widow, the former Donna K. Reed; two children, Carol Landis and Bradley Landis, both at home; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Viola Landis, Hyndman RD 1; maternal grandparents, Guy and Gladys Smith, Olmsted Falls, Ohio; two brothers, David Landis and John Landis, both of Hyndman RD 1; three sisters, Mrs. Donna Day, Buffalo Mills RD 1; Mrs. Dora Stranathan, of California; Miss Mary Landis, Hyndman RD 1, and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home where services were conducted Friday at 10 a.m. by the Rev. Jeff Dissmore. Interment, Porter Cemetery, RD 1. Pallbearers were Merwin Hast, Jimmy Matthews, Rick Sweitzer, Bernard Yost, Mike Printy and Glenn Swanger. The Republic, October 23, 1986 [L0136]
