Landis, 78, of Shanksville, died Aug. 21, 1973, at Veterans Hospital, Altoona. Born Sept. 4, 1894, in Stonycreek Township, he was a son of Jefferson and Emma (Weigle) Landis. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Surviving are his wife, the former Laverne Stull, and the following brothers and sisters, Morris Landis, Central City; Mrs. Grace Mowry, Somerset; Mrs. Harry (Ruth) Smith, Leroy and Everett Landis, all of Shanksville; John, Berlin RD 1; and Mrs. Merle (Nannie) Long, Friedens. A retired bricklayer, he was a veteran of World War I and a member of Somerset VFW. Funeral service was conducted Friday afternoon in Charles R. Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown with Rev. Marlin A.
