  GILBERT B. LANDIS
  
    Gilbert B. "Smokey Joe" Landis, 64, Berlin RD 3, died Jan. 29,
  1984, at Somerset Community Hospital.
    He was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Northampton Township, a son of
  William C. and Emma (Ackerman) Landis Saylor.
    He was preceded in death by parents; stepfather, Norman Saylor;
  brother, Dennis; and a stepbrother, Herbert L. Saylor.
    He is survived by a brother, Clarence E., Berlin RD 3; a sister,
  Mrs. Margaretta Garrison, Pontiac, Mich.; stepsisters, Mrs. Robert
  (Verna) Leonberger, Rockwood RD 2; Mrs. Robert (Ruth) Frazee,
  Somerset; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Landis, Berlin RD 3; Mrs. Hilda
  Saylor, Meyersdale RD 1; and a niece, Mrs. James (Mary Jane) Chonko,
  Fairhope RD 1; and several other nieces and nephews.  He was a member
  of Trinity United Church of Christ, Roxbury.
    Friends were received at the Johnson-Kuhlman Funeral Home, where
  services were held with Pastor L. Allan Ellis officiating. 
  Interment, Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
