Landis, 85, Somerset, died Nov. 25, 1985, at Maple Mountain Manor, Berlin. Born Feb. 28, 1900, in Stonycreek Township, son of the late Daniel A. and Minnie (Lowry) Landis. Also preceded in death by sister, Jennie Miller Young. Survived by his wife, the former Alice Umberger; two daughters: Mrs. Pauline Davis and Mrs. Betty (Byrd) Adams, both of Somerset; grandchildren: Linda Castrovillo, Cheryl Cook, Sienna Rhea and Jeffrey Davis; six great-grandchildren. Member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church Shanksville. Retired school teacher of 46 years. Member of Stoystown Lions Club, F.O.E. No. 1801, Shanksville Sportsmen's Association, Retired Teachers Association, Shanksville Fire Department, Somerset Grange, Somerset Lutheran Fellowship, Shanksville Senior Citizens and the A.A.R.P. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where services will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m., with the Rev. H. James Meyers officiating.
