Born Sept. 12, 1918 in Stonycreek Township, he is the son of the late Robert Landis and Emma (Hanning) Landis-Pritts. Also preceded in death by a sister, Blanche Suter. Survived by wife, the former Catherine Meyers, daughters, Mrs. Brad (Amy) Winters of Friedens and Mrs. David (Judy) Swank of Somerset. Grandchildren, Christopher and Erin Winters of Gainsville [sic], Va., Adam Winters of Friedens, Melanie and Kelly Swank of Somerset. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge 358 F&AM, Scottish Rite, Jaffa Shrine, American Legion Post 181, DAV Purple Heart, VFW, FOE Aerie 1801, National Association of Retired Federal Employees. A 1936 graduate of Somerset High School. Four and one half year Army veteran of World War II, Sergeant of Headquarters battery of 229 Field and Artillery Battalion of the 28th Division, recipient of the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, European, African, Mideastern Service Medal along with five Bronze Battle Stars. Participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Post 1 Society of 28th Division Heritage Association, Past Post Commander of 24th District Somerset County and Past Post Commander of Post 181 American Legion. Former member of Indian Lake Golf League and North Winds Golf Club. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in St. Paul's United Church of Christ with Rev. Glenn Sadler officiating. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park with Military honors by Somerset County Color Guard. There will also be viewing at the church from 11 a.m. Monday until time of service. Masonic service will be held at the funeral home 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 W.
