"Peg" Landis, 85, Berlin, went to be with the Lord June 25, 2004, at Somerset Hospital. Born April 1, 1919, in Berlin, daughter of Hayes and Nellie (Dively) Ayers. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Ernest "Champ," to whom she was married for 56 years, brother Alton Ayers and sisters Mae Newcomer and Dorothy Bell. Survived by these children: Nancy, married to Randy Hay, Somerset, Patricia, married to Winfred Johnson, Meyersdale, and James Richard Landis, Berlin; grandchildren, Michael Lepley, Jennifer (Hay) Nangel and Christy Hay. A 1937 valedictorian of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. Formerly employed by Johnson and Son Furniture, Berlin, and notary for Landis and Lafferty Chevrolet, Berlin. Member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Berlin, where she had taught Sunday school and was superintendent. Past president of Berlin PTA. Founder and past president of the Women's Tri-County Golf League, and longtime member of Oakbrook Ladies Golf League. Member of Berlin Firemen's Auxiliary and an avid bridge player. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Glenn P. Foster and Rev. Ralph G.
