Born March 22, 1923, in Northampton Township, a son of Bruce William and Elma Leola (Martz) Lane. Preceded in death by parents; brothers, Walter, Robert, Charles, John Lane and an infant brother. Survived by wife, the former Edna Fern Dickey, to whom he was married 56 years; children Robert E. Lane, married to the former JoAnn Marker, Rockwood; Thomas E. Lane, married to the former Gloria Gross, Somerset; six grandchildren, Tammy Urbain, Michael Lane, Renee Jano, Ryan Lane, Julie Johnson and Jeffrey Lane; 10 great-grandchildren and one step great-grandson; brother of Mrs. Robert (Mary) Landis, Berlin, and Miss Mildred Lane, Fairhope. A member of Grace United Methodist Church, Somerset County Jeep Club and American Legion Post 181. A World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the 702 Red Devils Tank Battalion. He was a meter reader for Penelec, retiring in 1985 with 28 years of service. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home where a service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Charles F. Olson officiating.
