All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ EARL BENSON LANGLEY Earl Benson Langley, 51, better known as Jack Langley, editor and publisher of the Town Crier, Berlin's semi-monthly newspaper, died last Sunday morning in the Windber Hospital, where he underwent an operation last Thursday. Born in Troy, N.Y., Mr. Langley was educated there and for many years prior to coming to Somerset County, 15 years ago, was associated with one of the largest advertising firms in the East. For a number of years he served as advertising man and window decorator for the George W. Schenk store in Somerset. Later he served as special advertising manager of the Somerset Daily American and for the Somerset County Times. Eighteen months ago Mr. Langley started publication of the Town Crier in Berlin. Surviving are three sons - Sgt. Philip, stationed in Arizona, and who flew from Arizona to Pittsburgh after being advised of his father's death; Lt. Donald, pilot of a bomber, now on cross-country flying maneuvers in this country, and Robert. Funeral services were held in the Somerset United Brethren Church, by Rev. H. F. Bungard, D.D., and Rev. I. F. Woodrow, pastor of the Church of Christ in Somerset. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park. Meyersdale Republican, October 5, 1944
