Lantz, aged 58, pastor of the Jennerstown Reformed Church for the last year, died Saturday night at 11:30 o'clock at the church parsonage, following an attack of indigestion. He was in good health when he retired Saturday night, but shortly afterward was stricken with indigestion. A physician was summoned but he passed away a few minutes later. Mr. Lantz was graduated from the Franklin & Marshall Theological Seminary 32 years ago. After completing his studies he served as pastor of the Reformed Church at Lone Tree, Ia., for more than nine years. He later went to Baltimore, O., where he served the Baltimore Reformed congregation for five years. He was then elected pastor of the Reformed Church at Payne, O., and served there until accepting a call from the Jennerstown congregation in January, 1929. He was a member of the Jennerstown Chamber of Commerce and also was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Lone Tree, Ia., and also of the Eastern Star and Independent Order of Odd Fellows at that place. Funeral services were held in the Reformed Church at Jennerstown Tuesday, April 29, at 9 a.m. The church was entirely too small to accommodate the large company of people who assembled to pay him their last tribute of respect. The service was in charge of Rev. B. A. Black, of Meyersdale, who was assisted by Rev. James S. Shannon, Pastor of the Jennerstown Lutheran Church, and Rev. W. J. Lloyd of the Evangelical Church. Brief and touching addresses were made by Revs. J. Harvey Mickley, D.D., Stated Clerk of Pittsburgh Synod; Rev. H. L. Logsdon, President of Somerset Classis; and Rev. A. S. Kresge of Meyersdale. Other ministers in attendance were: Revs. D. S. Stephan, J. E. Gindlesperger, A. E. Truxal, D. D., Leroy Moorehead and G. L. Roth, D. D. Immediately following the service the funeral party left by automobile for Baltimore, Ohio, where burial was made on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Lantz and two daughters returned to Jennerstown, where they will remain until the close of the school term, when they will go to Nebraska to live with Mrs. Lantz's people.
