Born May 19, 1926, in Jenner Township, son of Augustus Otto and Mary Virginia (McAvoy) Lape. Preceded in death by parents; brother, John William Lape; sisters, Alma Lundquest, Edna Roddy, Maxine Baker and Doris Troyer. Survived by wife, the former Kathryn Naomi Stahl, to whom he was married 51 years; children, Donald Miller, married to the former Carol Azarian, Milwaukee; Mrs. Donald (Diana) Stitely, Vowinckel; Rick Lape, married to the former Bernice Hoover, Gray; Larry Lape and wife, Dottie, Lavale, Md.; and Mrs. Tim (Cindy) Berkey, Boswell; 14 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister, Charles Lape and wife, Ruth, Sipesville; Ralph Lape and wife, Loraine, Boswell; and Mrs. J. Robert (Lois) Brougher, Somerset. U.S. Army veteran of Korean War, worked until his retirement as a farmer mechanic and later a crane operator for M. Glosser and Sons. A member of USWA, and attended Mount Laurel United Church of Christ, he enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, wood crafting, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Hauger- Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, and one hour prior to the Service which will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Laurel United Church of Christ, Gray.
