Lape Sr., 63, of Marker Drive, Somerset, passed away Oct. 23, 2003, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. Born Feb. 18, 1940, in Somerset. Son of Ray M. and Hazel A. (Pyle) Lape. Preceded in death by mother, paternal grandparents Harry M. and Edna M. Lape, and brother-in-law, Roy Lee Patterson Sr. Beloved husband, father and Pappy. Survived by father, of Somerset; wife Dorothy A. (Brown) Lape to whom he was married for 43 years; children, Kimberly A. Lape at home; Michelle A. (Lape) Stevanus and Chad Ginter, Bakersville, and Jay M. Lape Jr. at home; grandchildren, Charles J., Amber Ann, Aleisha Ann and Catherine Diane; sisters and brothers, Ray Junior Lape, Somerset, Evelyn M. (Lape) Swank, Niles, Ohio, Wilma Jean (Lape) married to Richard Miller, Columbus, Ohio, and Dale Eugene Lape, married to Bonnie L. Lape, Friedens RD; sister-in-law Irene (Brown) Patterson, Stoystown RD, and numerous nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and -nephews. Member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Westmont. Former member of the Somerset Volunteer Fire Department. Had been employed by the former Bender Shoe Co., Somerset, and also as a roof bolter for Solar Fuel Co. and the Berlin Mining Corp. Friends received from 1 until 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Pastor Jody Swart officiating.
