Lape, 83, 419 Twin Bridge Road, Chambersburg, went to her heavenly home on June 22. She had been a guest at Falling Spring Nursing Home for the last week. She was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Listie, to the late John W. and Gladys M. (Evans) Stumbaugh. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four sisters, Dorothy Cutchall, Wanda Pogue, Evelyn Stumbaugh and Blanche Stumbaugh and two brothers, John and Leonard Stumbaugh. She is survived by her husband George W. Lape Sr. of Twin Bridge Road and their two sons, George W. Lape Jr., husband of Brenda, Chambersburg; and William Ray Lape, husband of Karen, Anaheim, Calif. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, one step-grandchild, nine great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Betty Snyder, Binghamton, N.Y.; Shirley Crist, Wilmington, N.C.; and Charlotte Ericson, Chambersburg. She and her husband George Lape were married in Somerset on March 2, 1943. She retired from Knouse Foods in Chambersburg in 1979 after 23 years of employment with the company. She was a member of Criders United Brethren Church. She started the first beginners class for the small children, and she taught that class for 23 years. She was also a member of the Criders Women's Missionary Society for many years. Marquerite loved church work and making many pies for church functions and sales. She loved working with the little ones. In her earlier years, she enjoyed hunting with her husband and two sons. During her retirement she enjoyed working with crafts. She and her husband enjoyed traveling. They traveled to all 48 states several times, including Canada and Mexico. During her retirement, she and her husband George spent many of their winters in Florida and Arizona. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, Ltd., 6492 L.W.W., St. Thomas Visitation also from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, the time of funeral service at Criders United Brethren Church 2380 Loudon Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Earl Summers and the Rev. William Snyder officiating. Interment will be held at Norland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association, 3544 N. Progress Avenue, Suite 205, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9638.
