Lape, 81, Water Level Road, Somerset, died March 19, 1998, at her residence. Born Feb. 8, 1917, in Black Township, daughter of the late Elmer Bittner. Preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Sleepy" Lape, in 1983; and brothers: Samuel, Elmer and Dewey Bittner. Survived by her mother, Jennet (Barbour) Bittner, Somerset; and these children: Harold Edward Lape, married to the former Shelva Lynn Brant, Somerset; and Mrs. David (Debra) Mowry, Shanksville; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Sister of: John Bittner, Mrs. J.R. (Ida Mae) Lehman, Mrs. Carl (Sarah Ann) Watts, and Mrs. Richard (Janet) King, all of Somerset; Dorothy Friedline, Sipesville; and Allan Bittner, Rockwood. Last employed by the Somerset Area Agency on Aging. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today (Saturday) at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Rev. Roger Forry officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
