Lapina, 65 of Somerset died May 6, 1999 at Somerset Hospital. Born June 29, 1933 in Quecreek, a son of the late Peter and Josephine (Baroni) Lapina. Also preceded in death by sisters; Katherine Segal, Josephine Manuska, Yolanda Legarski and Agnes Baroni; and brothers Theodore and Benjamin Lapina. Survived by daughter: Mrs. Joseph (Sherri) Lapina-Champey, of Levittown Pa.; grandchildren: Amber Rose and Joseph Champey. Brother of Lillian Bills of Phoenix, Ariz., Dorothy Blucas of Fort Collins, Colo., Peter Lapina Jr. of Crown Point, Ind. and Anna Mae Riddick of Bosier City, La.; companion: Betty "Irish" Murphy; a number of nieces and nephews and many cousins; his beloved hunting dog Jack. A graduate of Somerset High School and an avid hunter and fisherman. Previously employed by Continental Can Corp. and a retired supervisor for Pa. Dept. of Transportation. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. Friends received from 7-9 Sunday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, Somerset where services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. Chancey Ickes officiating. Interment in the Casebeer Cemetery.
