Lasure Killed by Fall of Rock at Dam Site Struck by a huge boulder while at work on the new Youghiogheny dam, near Confluence, Harry A. Lasure, 26, of Rockwood, R.D. 1, was killed instantly at 9:45 Wednesday morning. Lasure was wearing a steel helmet when struck and the impact of the blow was so strong that particles of steel were found to have penetrated the brain. His neck also was fractured. Coroner P. C. Dosch was notified and ordered an investigation by Deputy Coroner Clifford Beck of Rockwood. He was the son of George W. and Sarah Lottig Lasure. His mother survives, also his wife, Mrs. Mary Lasure, and son, Donald. Also surviving are the following brothers and a sister: Lewis, Cumberland, Md.; Harvey, Albert, Noah, Andrew and Howard, and Mrs. Bessie Wilt, all of Sand Patch. The body will be taken to Mrs. Wilt's home Thursday. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the White Oak Reformed Church, followed by interment in the White Oak Cemetery. Mills and Mickey, Rockwood morticians, have charge of the funeral arrangements. Mr. Lasure had been working as a drill crew man at the Yough dam for about two months. He and his family moved from Sand Patch to Blackfield about two years ago. Meyersdale Republican, May 27, 1943
