Lauer, 85, of Franklin Park, died Oct. 29, 2003, at UPMC Passavant Hospital. Born Feb. 4, 1918, in Hooversville, the son of Edward and Nell M. (Berkey) Lauer. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Jacqueline (Kimmel) Lauer, Dec. 21, 1990. He is survived by wife Anne (Leung) Lauer; three sons, James E. and wife Janice of Fort Mitchell, Ky.; Barry A. and wife Janet of Macedonia, Ohio; and Gregory F. and wife JoAnn of Murraysville; stepson Rowland Lu and wife Monica of Boston, Mass.; stepdaughter Florence married to Gregory Wagner of Atlanta, Ga. Also survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Brother of Merle B. Lauer and wife Pearl, Johnstown. He is the retired president of Coal Tek Division Salem Corp. and worked as superintendent of Coke and Biproducts Division of Jones & Laughlin Steel Co. for 37 years. He is a 1940 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, where he obtained a bachelor of science degree in chemical engineering. He is a member of the Fairmount A.R. Presbyterian Church and Somerset Masonic Lodge F&A.M. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at H.P. Brandt Funeral Home Inc., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross Township. Funeral service will be held 4 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Graveside service 1 p.m. Monday at IOOF Cemetery, Stoystown. Memorial contributions may be made to Fairmount A.R.
