Lauer, 80, of Somerset died Sept. 7, 2000 at Somerset Patriot Manor. She was born Feb. 4, 1920 in Stonycreek Township. She was the daughter of Jacob Jay and Ida Fern (Lambert) Miller. Preceded in death by parents, son Robert J. Lauer, infant daughter Patricia L. Lauer, brothers Glenn and Guy Miller and sister Marian Weigle and close friend and companion William C. Mowry Jr. who died in 1994. She was survived by children Ms. Joyce E. Spangler, of Somerset; Mr. John C. Lauer Jr. married to the former Judy Adomnik of Shanksville; Mrs. William (Shirley Jean) Ohler, of Grand Junction, Colo., Mrs. Tim (Bonnie) Younkin of Friedens, Mrs. Edward L. (Linda) Miller Jr. of Shanksville, daughter-in-law Carolyn Lauer of Somerset, 20 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. She was also survived by sisters Mrs. Anna Belle Rayman, of Fountain Valley, Calif., Mrs. Woodrow (Lucille) Maust of Hampton, Va., Mrs. Evelyn Vitangeli of Belfair, Wash., Mrs. Leah Cecil of Canton, Ohio, and Mrs. William (Marlene) Hochard of Ravenna, Ohio, brothers Karl W. Miller and Jay J. Miller, both of Berlin. She was a member of the St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Ladies Auxiliary of F.O.E. Aerie 1801 of Somerset. She retired in 1980 from the former J.J. Newberry Co. Somerset Store with 25 years of service. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset where services will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Glenn E. Sadler officiating. Interment will be at the Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 202 West Union Street, Somerset, Pa. 15501.
