LAWTHER

  M. LaVonne (Sprowls) Lawther, 75, Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of
Boswell, died Nov. 6, 1996, at home.  Born Aug. 27, 1921, in Boswell,
daughter of Lester L. and Alice M. (Hartshorn) Sprowls.  Preceded in
death by parents and husband, Joseph M., on Jan. 28, 1992.  Survived
by children: Joseph C. and Charlotte L., both of Delray Beach, Fla.,
and Robert G., Johnstown.  Sister of Romayne, wife of John Mayko,
Johnstown, and Merwyn Lee, wife of Jay Ness, Melbourne, Fla.  Loving
wife and mother.  Former member of St. Andrews's Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Boswell.  Along with husband, owned and operated former
Lawther News and Variety in Boswell for 20 years.  Friends received
from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday and until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday
at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny St., Boswell, with the Rev. John K.
Timm officiating.  Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.  Memorials
may be sent to Children's Aid Home, 574 East Main St., Somerset, PA
