ALDA LAYMAN

  Alda Layman, 74, of 36 Green Street, Cumberland, Md., died June 16,
1982 in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland.
  She was born in Garrett County, and was a daughter of the late
Daniel Meese and Mary (Wetmiller) Meese.  Her husband, William C.
Layman, preceded her in death.
  She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and Lutheran Church
Women.
  She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. LaVerne Geis, Mrs. Doris
Taccino and Mrs. Mary Louise Winfield, all of Frostburg, Md., and
Mrs. Anita Ahalt, Seabrook.
  Also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Eva Landis, Meyersdale; Mrs.
June Kovacs, Mavarre, Ohio; two brothers, George Meese, Star Route,
Frostburg; Woodrow Meese, Avoca, N.Y.; 20 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren. 
  Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home.
