Layman, 64, of Wright's Crossing, Md., was dead on arrival June 19, 1982, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. He was born in Frostburg, and was a son of the late Eugene Layman and Nettie (Morgan) Layman. He was a veteran of World War II and was a sheet metal worker with Local 100. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Helen (Smith) Layman; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Arnold, Finzel; Mrs. Helen L. McKenzie, at home; a son, Harry John Layman, at home; three sisters, Mrs. Doris Stonebraker, Mrs. Nancy Gordon, both of Frostburg, Mrs. Pauline Wagonier, Virginia; two brothers, Robert Layman, Wright's Crossing; Joseph Layman, Borden Shaft, and six grandchildren. Friends were received at the Durst Funeral Home where services were conducted with Rev. Donald F. Sause officiating. Interment was in the Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Oakley, Charles F. Gordon, Paul E. Gordon, Tommy L. Layman, Joseph Layman, and Chris Skidmore. The Republic, June 24, 1982 [L410]
