Legarski Sr., 85, Lincoln Township, died March 4, 2008, at his daughter's residence in New Alexandria. Born Aug. 13, 1922, in Gray, the son of Peter and Julia (Bernot) Legarski. Preceded in death by parents; wife, the former Yolanda Lapina, who died on May 6, 1997; and brothers, Joseph, Frank and Leo. Survived by children, John G. Legarski II, married to former Mary Peretti, Galesburg, Mich.; Dottie, married to Randy Bacher, New Alexandria; and the Rev. Father Anthony J. Legarski, pastor of St. Mary Parish, Hollidaysburg; grandsons, Christopher Legarski, Montoursville; and Stephen Legarski and wife, Theresa, Honolulu, Hawaii; great-grandson, Braden Legarski; and sister, Mary Morelli, Clark, N.J. A 1940 graduate of Somerset High School, he was a very proud U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a plank owner of the USS Iowa, upon which he served during World War II. He was a retired welder for the former Bethlehem Steel Corporation, with 33 years of service. Served as justice of the Peace for Lincoln Township and was a notary public since 1972. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish, where he once served as reader And usher. Also a member of the Pa. Association of Notaries, Somerset Post 554, VFW and Somerset Post 181, American Legion. Enjoyed polka dancing and woodworking. Viewing from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 409 Main Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held 3 p.m. Sunday. Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday at All Saints Church, Boswell. The Rev. Father Anthony J. Legarski, celebrant, and the Rev. Father Justin A. Ratajczak, OFM, Conv. concelebrant. Committal Somerset County Memorial Park with graveside military rites by Somerset County Honor Guard.
