His death was due to heart disease. He was born in County Cork, Ireland, in 1859, and came to the United States at the age of 6 years. He settled in Vale Summit, Allegheny County, and engaged in mining in that region for fifteen years. He moved to Garrett County and spent the remainder of his life at farming and mining. He is survived by a sister, Miss Mary Legeer, of Somerset, Pa., and a brother, John Legeer, living near Jennings, Md. Funeral services were held in the Bittinger Lutheran Church. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery. Rev. J. E. Walls conducted the obsequies. Meyersdale Republican, April 14, 1932
