Leister, 74, of Church Street, Hyndman, died Aug. 24, 2003 at WMHS Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born Oct. 16, 1928, in Farmington, Mich., she is the daughter of the late William P. and Coletta Ann (Brown) Casson. Also preceded in death by husband Eldred C. Leister in 2000, after nearly 46 years of marriage; two sons; a son-in-law, a brother, two sisters and two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hope. Surviving are sons Alan E. "Gene" Leister and wife Janice (Barrett), Hyndman, and John E. Leister and wife Tina (Fochtman), Carlisle; daughters, Cheryl L. Shaffer and husband Steven, Hyndman, Virginia A. Logsdon and husband Melvin, Buffalo Mills, Mary K. Wisniewski and husband Craig, Port Orange, Fla., Donna M. Gibbons and husband Charles, Jr., Buffalo Mills, and Deborah Jefferys, widow of Tim, Hyndman; sisters Theresa Leister and husband Wayne and Eileen Staab and husband Robert, all of Pittsburgh; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Leister was a homemaker. She was a former Green Thumb volunteer for the Hyndman Area Rescue Squad. She was also a former 1st Responder for the Hyndman Area Rescue Squad and a member and director of the Hyndman Senior Citizens. She was a member of Wills Mountain Church of Christ, Hyndman. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman where a funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Evangelist Harry T. Ryan officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Glencoe. The family requests that donations in memory of Mrs. Leister be made to Wills Mountain Church of Christ, c/o Judy Shaffer, P.O. Box 635, Hyndman, Pa. 15545.
