  William Lee Leister, 38, Berlin, died Jan. 1, 2006, at home. Born Sept. 5, 1967, in
  Meyersdale, son of Fred W. and Mildred L. (Wilt) Leister, Berlin. Also survived by a
  sister, Deborah L., married to Doug Arden; brother, Fred L., married to the former Jeanne
  Shipley and a good friend, Heidi Mankamyer, all of Berlin; six nieces and nephews; four
  great-nieces and nephews and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was a 1985 graduate
  of Berlin Brothersvalley High School and a graduate of the Police Academy in Johnstown.
  He was a corrections officer at SCI Laurel Highlands for 10 years and a former security
  guard at the former Somerset State Hospital. He was a 20-year member of the Berlin V.F.D.
  and former Ambulance Captain for 10 years. He was an E.M.T. for 18 years with Berlin and
  Somerset Ambulance associations. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and
  2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin, where service will be
  held at 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Eugene Oburn officiating. Interment, Mount Lebanon
  Cemetery, Glencoe. Fire company service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Memorial
  contributions may be given to Berlin Area Ambulance Association or Berlin Volunteer Fire
  Department.
