Leland Jr., 50, of 5013 54th Way No., St. Petersburg, Fla., died Dec. 21, 1972, in St. Petersburg General Hospital. Born Jan. 6, 1922, in Norfolk, Va., he was a son of the late Otto R. and Elizabeth (Major) Leland. He moved to St. Petersburg 22 years ago from Norfolk. Surviving are his wife, the former Florence Costantini; a son, Gary C., and a daughter, Beverly Herman; and one granddaughter, Michelle Lynn Herman, all of St. Petersburg; four brothers, Frank, William, Rowland and Warren, all of Norfolk; and two sisters, Sarah Gregory and Shirley Nissen, also of Norfolk. He was the former owner of the Palm Hat Works, St. Petersburg, and Mardi Gras Motel, St. Petersburg Beach, and was presently employed with the Gulf Coast Motor Lines in Clearwater, Fla. He was a 25-year member of LOOM 1145. A veteran of World War II, U.S. Army, he was the recipient of the Purple Heart with two bronze clusters and European-African Middle Eastern Ribbon with two bronze service stars. Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated Saturday, Dec. 23, from the Transfiguration Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Waters officating. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery.
