Leonard, 78, of Markleysburg, died March 9, 1987, in Garrett County Hospital, Oakland, Md. Born Jan. 18, 1909, in Stewart Township, a son of the late Homer and Anne (Sproul) Leonard. Preceded in death by his wife, Georgie (Bryner) Leonard, a sister and a brother. Survived by three children: Russel, Jr. and Kathryn Van Nosdeln, both of Addison; and Bailey of Markleysburg; six grandchildren; one great- grandchild and six brothers: Robert, Odbert, Ray, Warren and Larence, all of Ohiopyle; and Elwood of Farmington. He was a retired lumberman, a charter member of the Ohiopyle-Stewart Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Markleysburg Union Church. Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Humbert Funeral Home in Confluence where funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Tom Crogan and the Rev. Peter Mallik officiating. Interment, Bryner (Middle) Ridge Cemetery. The Ohiopyle-Stewart Volunteer Firemen will hold a memorial service 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
