"Beanie" Leonard, 82, of Ohiopyle, passed away Jan. 4, 2004, in the Uniontown Hospital. Born March 22, 1921 in Ohiopyle, son of the late Homer R. and Annie M. (Sproul) Leonard. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Freeda I. (Morrison) Leonard in 1998, and five brothers and a sister, Robert, Russell, Odbert, Frederick, Elwood and Helen Leonard. Survived by two children, Doris J. "Cookie" May and husband, Donald of Mill Run, Dale Leonard and wife Candee of Ohiopyle; four grandchildren, Terry G. May and wife Stefanie of Mill Run, Hillary L. Lawson and husband Adam of Uniontown, Stephanie J. Plume and husband Devin of Ohiopyle, Gregory D. Leonard of Ohiopyle; and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ray "Deacon" Leonard and Lawrence D. Leonard and wife Doris, all of Ohiopyle. "Beanie" was a life time member of Meadow Run Community Church. He served as president of Ohiopyle Volunteer Fire Dept., for 38 years. He was the owner and founder of Leonard Saw Shop in Addison since 1950. A veteran of World War II, serving with the 3rd Army. He held membership in the American Legion Post 946 Ursina and the N.R.A. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, and until the time of service at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Donald R. Crawford Funeral Home, Farmington. The Rev. Kenneth VanSickle and Rev. David Morrison officiating. Interment will follow in Irwin Memorial Cemetery, Ohiopyle.
