He was a son of the late John H. and Susanna Lepley and was born May 21, 1867 near Wellersburg. As a young man he attended the local normal school of Meyersdale and prepared himself for teaching. Having taught one term of school he took over the management of the general store owned by the late J. M. Cook at Deal. Later he learned telegraphy at Sand Patch, and was employed by the Baltimore and Ohio and Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad Companies over a period of 43 years. He had retired in 1937 while in the employ of the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie as agent at Fuller Station. Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Ruberta Lepley; one daughter, Mrs. Carl Cheek of Des Moines, Iowa; five sons, Howard G. Lepley of Hartford, Connecticut, Harry C. Lepley of Paso Robles, California, L. V. Lepley and James Lepley of Perryopolis. There is one grandchild. He is also survived by the following sisters and brother: Mrs. Charles Weimer and Charles P. Lepley, Somerset; Mrs. E. F. Dewitt, Scottdale; Mrs. Bertha Stanton, Mrs. Howard Phillips, and Eleanor Lepley, Meyersdale. Mr. Lepley was a member of the Christian Church for 38 years and an elder. He belonged to the Flatwoods Lodge of Odd Fellows. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in the Christian Church with the pastor, Rev. Fred Fink, officiating, assisted by Dr. H. A. Denton of Pittsburgh. Interment was in the Mt. Washington Cemetery near Perryopolis. Meyersdale Republican, March 27, 1941
