Born Nov. 10, 1906, in Riga, Latvia, daughter of Roman and Frances Korejwo. Preceded in death by parents; husband, George, in 1941; sons George, Alex and Walter; daughter-in-law Catherine; and son-in-law Fred DeLuca. Also brothers- and sisters-in-law Alphonse and wife Evette; Victor and wife Germaine; Felix, Adam and Tony (and wife Kay); and sister and brother-in-law Edith and husband John Maj. Survived by her loving daughters, Olga DeLuca and Ann, wife of Mickey Skaja, both of Chicago; and daughters-in-law Irene Levadnuk of Florida, and Cora Levadnuk of Jerome. Grandmother of 18, great-grandmother of 33 and great-great grandmother of four. Also survived by sisters-in-law Frieda Korejwo and Mary Korejwo. Alice and her family settled in Montreal, Canada, where she married in 1924. She and her husband moved to the western Pennsylvania coal mining district and in Jerome, raised their children George, Olga, Alex, Walter and Anastasia. After losing her husband at an early age, she looked after her flock through military service, marriage, grandchildren, sickness and death. Grandma Alice, as the matriarch of so many beloved grandchildren and nieces and nephews, enjoyed watching and hearing about their achievements and struggles. She was so very proud to be their grandmother and auntie. We are sure it kept her young. Friends received from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where a prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, the very Rev. Father John W. Govrusik officiating. Interment, St. Mary's Orthodox Cemetery, Jerome. Daily American, June 13, 2001 [L0750]
