All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ _______________________________________________ LEWIS Jack Warren Lewis, 68, of 301 Glenora Drive, Grove City, Pa., formerly of Slippery Rock RD 2 and Bakersville, passed away at the Franklin Regional Medical Center Thursday, Sept. 7 at 4 a.m. following an extended illness. Born March 3, 1921 to David and Martha Laughlin Lewis. Married to the former Nellie Boyd, whom he married on Sept. 22, 1941. From 1953 until 1959, Mr. Lewis was a camp administrator at the Forest Park Lodge, Bakersville, for the Pittsburgh Baptist Association. He was instrumental in starting the volunteer fire company and was past fire chief and past president of the company, being recently honored as "father of the company" in January 1988. From 1959-76, he was camp administrator at Camp Crestfield of Slippery Rock, RD 2, for the Pittsburgh Presbytery Association. Surviving is his wife, Nellie, at home; one son, Jay W., of Latrobe, one brother David C. Lewis, Tallmadge, Ohio, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be at Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. John C. Peterson, pastor of the Center Presbyterian Church officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Interment, Richland Cemetery in Dravosburg, Pa. Daily American, September 8, 1989 [L0771]
