Born on Sept. 15, 1941, in Hyndman, she is a daughter of the late Otto T. and Sarah M. (Clites) Burkett. She is also preceded in death by a her husband of nearly 33 years, John W. "Jake" Leydig, on June 23, 2004; a son, Alvin Leydig; two brothers, Delford and Kenneth Burkett; and three sisters, Emma Donahue, Hilda Hengst and Thelma Miller. Surviving are children Timothy W. Leydig and wife Sherry (Gray), Jonie Overly and fiancˇ Ron Polinick, and Lisa Leydig, all of Emporium; and Cathy Haynes and husband Mike, Driftwood, PA; 18 grandchildren, one great grandson and one great granddaughter. She loved cooking, her grandchildren and, especially, her little dog, Trapper. She was a member of Somerset Grace Brethren Church, and she attended 1st Baptist Church of Emporium. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St, Hyndman, where a funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Scott Mellott officiating. Interment will be in Hyndman Cemetery. Memorial contributions are requested to assist the family with the expenses of the funeral and should be sent to the 1st Baptist Church, North Broad Street, Emporium
