"Bert" Leydig, 83, of Bard RD 1, Buffalo Mills, died Wednesday, April 25, 1990, in Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, MD. He was born Oct. 14, 1906 in Juniata Township, a son of the late B. Frank and Mary (Meyers) Leydig. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Isabel M. (May) Leydig, on Jan. 23, 1952, and by five brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandson. He was a retired farmer and a retired maintenance employee of the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission at the Kegg Maintenance Department. He attended the Buffalo Mills United Methodist Church, and was a member of the POS of A, at Bard. Survivors include his widow, Mrs. E. Pearl (Hazlett) Leydig; two sons: Jim S. Leydig; and William E. Leydig, both of Hyndman; six daughters: Mrs. Virginia L. Lankey, Bard; Mrs. Phyllis J. Bryant, Hyndman; Mrs. Ona M. Yetter, Bedford; Mrs. Mary Ellen Littlefield, of Bedford RD 4; Mrs. Peggy J. Kidd, Buffalo Mills; Mrs. Linda L. Zembower, Bedford; a sister, Mrs. Marie Countryman, Berlin Rd 1; 24 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home where services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Harold Burgess. Interment, Dry Ridge Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons: William Lankey, Michael Littlefield, Chris Yetter, William Leydig, Patt Kidd, Grady Bryant and Jeff Leydig. The Republic, May 3, 1990 [L0796]
