Leydig, 65, formerly of Hanover RD 1, Buffalo Mills, died Monday, July 21, 1986, at Hanover Hospital. Born April 25, 1921 in Londonderry Township, Bedford County, he was a son of the late Howard Leydig and Ida Ellen (Mull) Leydig. He was a retired machinist for Aircraft Armaments, Inc., Cockeysville, Md. He served in the European Theater with the Army in World War II, and was a member of Harry D. Zeigler Post 6319, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Greencastle. He was a former member of Gravel Pit United Methodist Church, Buffalo Mills RD 1. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nettie (McCormick) Leydig; three sons, Roger Ray Leydig, Anna, Ohio; Franklin E. Leydig, Greencastle; Edward Blair Leydig, Fort Loudon; eight grandchildren; two brothers: Benjamin Leydig, Accident, Md.; Howard Leydig, Buffalo Mills RD 1; two sisters: Mrs. Mary Burkett, Buffalo Mills RD 1; Mrs. Agnes Nellie Miller, Hyndman RD 1. Friends were received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman, where services were conducted Friday at 2 p.m. by a nephew, the Rev. Fay Leydig. Interment, Madley Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of Oscar Jordan Post 7375, VFW, Hyndman, and the Fort Bedford Honor Guard. Both groups will accord military honors at graveside. The Republic, July 31, 1986 [L0799]
