"Sonny" Leydig, 64, Fairhope, died May 15, 1993 in Cumberland, Md. Born Aug. 9, 1928 in Hyndman, son of the late Walter and Florella (Sides) Leydig. Survived by wife of 39 years, Henrietta "Ret" (Larson) Leydig; daughter, Barbara Jo May, Hyndman; two grandchildren, Matthew and Amber May; a brother, John Leydig, Somerset; seven sisters, Beatrice Logsdon, Lillian Shroyer, Grace Meyers and Shirley Hutzell all of Hyndman; Alma Sponaugle, Baltimore, Md.; and Helen Emerick and Mary Miller, both of Fairhope. Retired in 1988 with 27 years of employment as a maintenance employee at the Letterkenney Army Depot in Chambersburg. Also served for four years as Township supervisor for Fairhope Township. Served in Korea with the U.S. Army during Korean Conflict. Attended Fairhope Community Church. Visitation from 7-9 p.m. Monday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Hyndman. Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Daniel Leister. Interment, Hyndman Cemetery. Daily American, May 17, 1993 [L0806]
