He was born April 18, 1922 near Summit Mills, a son of Leonard and Gursie (Engle) Lichty. Preceded in death by parents, maternal grandparents, Elmer and Emma Engle, who raised Reid and Robert; stepmother, Ida Lichty; wife, Clara (Livengood) Lichty who died on May 31, 1998; and grandson, Patrick E. Lichty who died on June 5, 2000. Survived by two sons: Fred E. Lichty, and his wife Sue; and Roger P. Lichty, all of Meyersdale; grandchildren: Kathy A., wife of Terry Paul, Meyersdale; Joshua P. Lichty; Tracy M. Lichty; and Corey I. Lichty, all of Garrett. A brother of Robert P. Lichty, Grantsville, MD. Half brother of: Gary Lichty, Farmington, UT; Carol (Warren) Palmer, North Olmsted, OH; and Betty Herrington, Willowick, OH. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. A graduate of Meyersdale High School, class of 1941. Following high school, Reid worked in the logging business, coal mines, and began working for Cook & Lintz Memorials in 1950. He owned and operated Cook & Lintz Memorials from 1963 until his retirement. A member of the Meyersdale Church of the Brethren. Friends were received Sunday evening from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Price Funeral Home Meyersdale, where service was conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, with Pastor Pete Kaltenbaugh officiating.
