  VERNIE LICHTY
  
    Mrs. Vernie Lichty, 73, of Oakland, died August 28, at Garrett
  County Memorial Hospital.
    Born in Grantsville she was a daughter of the late Noah and Savilla
  Yoder Hershberger.  Her husband, Dan Lichty, died in 1963.
    Mrs. Lichty was a member of the Maple Glen Mennonite Church,
  Grantsville.
    She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Sheffel, Somerset, a son,
  Ralph Lichty, Oakland, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Lydia Beachy,
  Salisbury; Mrs. Fanny Beachy, Meyersdale; two brothers, Elmer
  Hershberger, Springs, Ervin Hershberger, Meyersdale; and 10
  grandchildren.
    The body was taken to the Stewart Funeral Home.  Funeral services
  were conducted August 31 from the Gortner Union Church with Rev. Ivan
  J. Miller officiating.  Interment was in Gortner cemetery.
    The family suggested that expressions of sympathy be in the form of
  contributions to the American Cancer Society.
