Liebau, 95, formerly of RD 2, Baltimore Pike, died July 28, 1988, at the Rest Haven Nursing Home, York, Pa., where he had been a patient. Born Aug. 26, 1892, in Southampton Township, Somerset County, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Pfeiffer) Liebau. He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence M. (Fullem) Liebau, in 1985. He was a graduate of Meyersdale High School and Indiana State Normal School. He taught school in Somerset County for several years before coming to Cumberland, Md., as an employee of Kennewegg Co. He later became manager of Tri-State Dairy which became Queen City Dairy where he also was manager. He was one of the first pioneers of the Dairy Co-op and a member and past president of the Cumberland Rotary Club and the Cumberland Chamber of Commerce, charter member and past president of Maryland-Virginia Dairy Technical Society, member of Diesel Club of Cumberland, past board member of the First 2nd National Bank of Cumberland and an avid pilot. Surviving are one son, George E.S. Liebau, Stewartstown; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Hartenstein-Orsburn Funeral Home, Stewartstown, and the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence. Frederick G. Konhaus was in charge of service for the Hartenstein-Orsburn Funeral Home. Services were conducted at the Stewartstown United Methodist Church, Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Cynthia A. Raski and at the Silcox-Merritt Funeral Residence, Wednesday at 10 a.m. Interment, Hillcrest Burial Park. The New Republic, August 4, 1988 [L0874]
