Lindeman, 77, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1993 at the Framingham Union Hospital following a long illness. He was born in Meyersdale, the son of the late William D. and Martha (Whitford) Lindeman. He had been in retirement for the past 12 years, following many years of service as a foreman for the Lieby Garden Shop and Nursery of Weston. He served with the US Army, 26th Infantry, 1st Division, before and throughout World War II. He participated in the invasion of France and six other major battles throughout Europe and Africa. He was wounded in three different battles and awarded the Purple Heart and several battle stars. He was discharged as a staff sergeant and was a life member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He is survived by his wife, Ruth (Anderson) Lindeman; children: Karen S. Faeth; Paul D. Lindeman; and Michael J. Lindeman; and eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Richard Lindeman, and sisters Mary Jane Lindeman and Nell Swank, all of State College. Funeral Services were held Feb. 26 at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home with the Rev. Jeff Johnson officiating. Interment, Lakeview Cemetery. New Republic, March 25, 1993 [L0913]
