Ling, 87, of Central City RD 1, died March 2, 1978 at Berlin. He was born Aug. 4, 1890 in Shade Township, the son of the late John and Mary (Rhodes) Ling. He was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, and sons, Clarence and David William. He was survived by his widow, the former Mary Jane Small, and these children: Claire B. of Joliet, Ill; Edna M., wife of Thomas Davies of Edinboro; Betty L., wife of James K. Frazier, Somerset; Ruthelleme, wife of Kenneth Burkett, of Somerset RD 5; and Doris M., wife of George Stringer, of Cheswick; 16 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was a member of local Union 6410 UMWA. Friends are being received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Charles E. Brumbaugh Funeral Home, Central City. Body will lie in state from 10 until 11 a.m., time of service, Monday in Graef's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Cairnbrook, with the Rev. Woodrow J. Klinger officiating. Interment, P.O.S. of A.
